540 WORLD world-firsts & UK-first highlights

World's first Accoya® wood fender.

(2021)  540 WORLD are super proud to have collaborated on sourcing the world's first Accoya® wood fender for the Thames estuary for the Environment Agency's TEAM2100 which passed inspection mid July with flying colours!

This collaborative project saw the remarkable fast-growing acytelated Accoya® timber successfully replace the usual slow-growing hardwoods, traditionally used for these robust river fenders.  Accoya® is Cradle to Cradle Certified® at Gold level and it's incredible durability, in water and out, made it the perfect sustainable choice for this research project.

UK's first C2C Certified® materials retrofit.

(2021)  540 WORLD and sister company, FreeSpace Design ideated, designed, sourced & project managed the entire interior retrofit using multiple C2C Certified® materials and products to create a truly healthy space for harm free futures for London's 5-star Ergotec Health Clinic.

This architectural project was supported by Accoya® , Graphenstone, Grohe, Magna Glaskeramik, Mosa, Shaw Contract, Wienerberger, Chiltern Contracts and other incredible companies supplying and installing verified sustainable products - all Cradle to Cradle Certified®. The world's first fitting of the incredible water & energy-saving Grohe BauEdge mixer went into this project too, sustainably C2C Certified® at Gold level!

Cradle to Cradle Certified® products are showcased at the UK Environmental Agency's Carbon Action Expo for the first time.

(2020) 540 WORLD present and showcase Cradle to Cradle Certified® products to Engineers, Contractors and EA decision makers :  Dec 2019 & 2020

540 WORLD applaud the UK Environmental Agency for including Cradle to Cradle® in their printed programme, in their expo stands and in their presentations this 2019 and 2020.  The presentations were fully booked and holding a waiting list. 540 WORLD are determined to see the UK become a hotspot for Cradle to Cradle Certified® products, products that are safe, sustainable, circular-economy-ready and positive for people, profit and planet!

Futurebuild and 540 WORLD showcase multiple Cradle to Cradle Certified® materials and products at their central innovation stand which proves to be the most visited Futurebuild stand of all time!

(2019)  540 WORLD spearheads collaborative C2C® London launch:   18-21 Sept 2019

540 WORLD's Cradle to Cradle Certified® all Gold level products launch at London Olympia's "100% Design" exhibition in September showcased ten companies at their soft launch just weeks after 540 was founded.  

Brands included, Accoya timber, Bauwerk parquet, Graphenstone paint, Vogeli AG printing, Magna-Glaskeramik glass, Cradle to Cradle Marketplace online consumer goods, FreeSpace Design interiors architecture and 540 WORLD - circular project specialists.

(2019)  540 WORLD Launches First UK Printed C2C® Design Directory!

540 World collaborated with 23 companies to launch the world's first printed C2C® Design Directory (C2CDD) which launched at London's 100% Design Show in September 2019 - finally giving everyone easy access to Cradle to Cradle Certified® products!
